Cold and Flu Season Has Arrived
Influenza is a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and in some cases death. Every flu season is different and influenza infection can affect people much differently. Millions of people get the flu every year with hundreds of thousands requiring hospitalization. Even healthy people can get very sick from the flu and spread it to others. An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to reduce your risk of getting sick with seasonal flu and spreading it to others. When more people get vaccinated against the flu, less flu can spread through that community. If you have not gotten your flu shot yet, contact your physician or local health provider. In addition, many local pharmacies such as CVS, Wal-Mart, Rite-Aid and Weis Markets now offer flu shots on a “walk-in” basis.
