Fraud Prevention Series
Resident Service Coordinators, with the help of the United States Postal Inspection Service, are currently hosting a Fraud Prevention Series throughout the housing authority’sbuildings to increase awareness of fraud, scams and identity theft. Identity theft is a major issue in today’s society, especially among the senior citizen population. Seniors are increasingly targeted by scammers, enticing seniors with prizes, such as sweepstakes winnings, or posing as bank personnell and offering help in exchange for personal information. Idendity theft is a serious problem, but through this video series, the housing authority hopes to inform and prepare its residents for future scams. The remaining Fraud Prevention presentations are scheduled as follows:
Monday, March 31st – McCallum Manor – 1:30-3:00pm
Thursday, April 3rd – Riverside Manor – 9:30-10:30am
