Authority Continues Summer Fitness Tradition
For the third consecutive year the Tioga/Bradford County Housing Authority will offer its “Summer Kicks” Program for children residing in public housing.
“This program has been a huge success and it continues to grow,” said Service Coordinator, Crystal Barnard. “We want our kids to be active and enjoy playing outside instead of sitting in front of the television or playing video games.”
The program again asks school-age children to make a commitment to take part in a minimum of 60 minutes of play at least five days a week for one calendar month. Participants are required to keep a log of their activities and have a parent or guardian sign-off each day. Children who meet the required goal will be rewarded with a new pair of sneakers prior to the start of the new school year.
Chidren in the Cowanesque Valley show off new sneakers they received after successfully completing the “Summer Kicks” Program last August.
