Housing Authority Spotlights Korean War Veteran

Donald Shaffer was born on June 11, 1932, and grew up on a farm in New Albany, Pennsylvania. He was raised with a passion for the outdoors, where he learned to enjoy hunting and fishing with his friends and family. At the age of twenty-one, Donald enlisted in the United States Army. Donald served in the U.S. Army from April 1954 until March 1956, and continued to serve his country in the Army Reserves until 1959. After enlisting at the age of twenty one, he went to basic training in Fort Knox Kentucky for six months before he was stationed in Frankfort, Germany; serving in the Tank Battalion during the Korean Conflict.

Housing Authority Receives Award

The Tioga/Bradford County Housing Authority was recently honored by the Pennsylvania Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies (PAHRA) at its annual conference in Valley Forge, PA. “This is a tremendous honor for our Authority,” said Executive Director, Kelley Cevette. “There were a number of very impressive programs throughout the state that were nominated for this award. It’s very nice to be recognized for our efforts.”

Housing Authority’s Summer Exercise Program a Hit

The Tioga/Bradford County Housing Authority’s “Summer Kicks” exercise program was well-received by children and parents currently residing in the Authority’s family units. “This program was such a great idea,” said Tawni Ledo of Blossburg, PA. “My daughter is usually very active in the summer but this helped her stay on track.”

Blossburg Tenants Celebrate Opening of New Satellite Office

Tenants residing at Riverside Park in Blossburg, PA gathered to celebrate the grand opening of a satellite office in a building that currently houses their laundry facilities and a community room. “We wanted to convert a space that would give our tenants easier access to our staff,” said Executive Director, Kelley Cevette. “It will be much more convenient for our residents to simply walk a few short steps to pay their rent, submit a work order or ask questions.”
